Our toys are made to be played with, loved and enjoyed, but because they’re handmade from natural materials, a little gentle care will help keep them clean and looking their best for years to come.

Felt Toy Care

Our felt pieces are lovingly handmade from natural sheep’s wool, so they may develop small changes with use. This is part of the beauty of a handmade toy. One of the best qualities of felt wool is that it has naturally antimicrobial and hypoallergenic properties. Its dense, tightly felted structure also makes it difficult for dust mites to penetrate deep into the material. The dense nature of our felted pieces creates a natural barrier that resists dust mites.

For everyday care:

• Gently remove dust and lint by hand.
• If your felt toy becomes marked, spot clean gently with a damp cloth.
• If your felt toy or play mat becomes visibly soiled, wash in warm water with a mild soapy detergent. Squeeze excess liquid and allow to completely air dry. Allow damp pieces to air dry naturally, away from direct heat or strong sunlight.
• Avoid soaking or submerging felt toys in water for excess periods of time, as excess moisture can affect the wool fibres and shape.
• We do not recommend machine washing or using a tumble dryer. This may change the shape or colour of the pieces.
• If a loose fibre appears, simply trim it carefully with small scissors rather than pulling it. Alternatively, use a sewing needle or needle felting needle to pierce the loose fibre back in place.
  

Rattan Toy Care

Rattan is a naturally occurring climbing palm that grows abundantly in tropical regions. It has been used for generations to create baskets, furniture and everyday objects because of its remarkable combination of strength, flexibility and lightness.

Because no two pieces of rattan are exactly alike, variations in colour, texture, grain and shape are completely normal. These aren’t flaws, they’re the little details that make each piece unique.

Over time, natural rattan may deepen or soften in colour, particularly with exposure to light. Like wood, leather and other natural materials, it develops its own character as it is used and loved.

For everyday care:

• Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust.
• For small marks, use a lightly damp cloth and wipe gently.
• Avoid soaking rattan or leaving it wet, as prolonged moisture can cause the material to swell, warp or weaken.
• Allow rattan to dry completely before storing.
• Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight, heaters and other sources of intense heat.
